Job Description
Children’s Program Director

Hired By: Administrative Board as recommended by the Pastor-Staff Parish Relations Committee.

Responsible to: Minister and Council on Ministries Chairperson(s)

Qualifications: The Children’s Program Director must demonstrate an interest in, and concern for children and families. The Children’s Program Director shall have a pleasant personality, emotional maturity, good Christian character, ability to meet and talk with people effectively and the ability to get along with other staff, church committees, and volunteers. Organizational skills, knowledge of Christian Education, experience in working with group development, and good oral and communication skills are also required. A college degree in Christian Education and/or professional experience are highly desirable.

Responsibilities:
1. Initiate, coordinate, and facilitate children’s programs of the church in consultation with the Council on Ministries. Initial priorities are children’s activities on Woodlawn Wednesdays, Children Church, Sunday school, and Vacation Bible School. Other existing and new programs may require attention as needs are identified.

2. Promote and attend District, Conference, and Ecumenical Conference events and programs.

3. Provide information and articles for planned and scheduled program activities to the church secretary and webmaster to be included in bulletins, newsletters and the church web page.

4. Attend Council on Ministries meetings and work with program area coordinators and chairpersons.

5. Identify promising program initiatives, specify budgetary expectations and list possible funding opportunities to the Council on Ministries.

6. Assist the Communications Coordinator to display and maintain attractive and effective children’s bulletin boards.

7. Perform other duties as directed by the Minister and the Council on Ministries chairperson(s).
